Alex DE Large the leader of the gang of droogs, has engaged himself into an evening of ultra-violence which involves his fight with a rival gang. Later, it was found that Alex has also invaded the home of one of the wealthy cat-lady. Alex was put behind bars and have undergone through aversion therapy where the criminals get rehabilitated within two weeks. His way, Alex almost lost senses and became sick. One ay Alex woke up in Alexander’s home where he had been cared for by his manservant named Julian. Alex lied to classical music especially Beethoven (Ray, 1981). Alexander drugged Alex and locked him in upstairs. After that Alexander played one of the favourite compositions of Beethoven which forced Alex to attempt suicide by throwing himself out of the window. At that time he was not in a mental condition to relax with some good music. The main causes were due to continuous negligence’s towards him and mistreatment. After that in a hospital, Alex had undergone certain psychological tests where he had observed that he no longer had any kind of aversions towards violence and lovemaking (Ray, 1981).
After the aversion therapy, Alex behaved like a good person in society. His behavior was like titular clockwork once that is organic outside and mechanical inside. Ambiguity is considered as one of the recurring topics where the modernity representations, gender as well as the artificial slang are all complexes by nature. Both of the violence as well as art music have provided Alex certain pleasure experiences. As a result, Alex’s reconditioning in prison causes him both pain and nausea (Ray, 1981). The violence of Alex remained one of the most disturbing features. The musical qualities, as well as the linguistic violence’s of nadsat, remained unconnected to the role of music as well as violence’s within the plot The novel when described as one of the linguistic symphonies have not taken into consideration the disturbing love of Alex for both of the art music and the extreme violence’s. The musical taste of Alex cannot be explained solely with the Burges’s contempt for modern popular music. Indeed Burgess is not the only one who can connect Beethoven music with violent emotions (Ray, 1981).
Hence the Clockwork Orange not allows the reader in evading the music and violence’s as good or bad. However, it has exploited the cognitive dissonances which generally arise out of the music contiguity ad the acts of violence. The music representation involves sound descriptions and listening which was absent in Clockwork Orange. That is why whenever Alex listened to music, he felt irritated and gets aroused, and at that time it is hard for him to tell that whether he listens to the music or wants to do lovemaking. The bodily experiences in the Beethoven music aroused him physically. To conclude, it can be stated that different music approaches created different attitudinal ambivalences among individuals. Both the novel as well as the film not only have dealt with the inherent music potentials but have also exploited the ambiguous relation between music and violence so that the existing complexity can be communicated.
