Introduction to Concept of Patriarchy

This study critically evaluates the concept of patriarchy that misses most of the complexities of gender inequality. This study will address the three ideas that are gender differences in biological terms, feminist role and their effect on gender roles harassment against men and gender reproduction and generation of gender stereotyping. Patriarchy is a social system in which mainly holds main power and overriding in rows of political leadership authority communal privilege and control of the property while the women are conquered (Maji, 2018). However, patriarchy also refers to the set of ideas obtained by an ideology that adds to justify and explain this dominance and attributes through the usual differences between men and women. The patriarchal system is defined as a system where men are in authority over women in all aspects of society. But in the present time, men and women have equal have opportunities to seek equal power and authority. However, there are some areas where male centeredness, male identification and male dominance has been observed. The study also highlights the role of feminist that affect gender roles and harassment against men. Incredible gender is a broader topic and has different perceptions and opinions on gender roles. The gender reproduction comes across in two different ways that are one big family rituals and other is the formal education or the social logical norm that influence gender.

Thesis Statement

The present generation is more influenced by the media which plays a big part in the way people view gender and gender roles. This study will mention many points which will state both views but majorly how gender is reinforced and effected by the way it's presented

Gender Difference in Biology and It's a View

Most of the individuals are often get confused with the terms sex and gender. Sex refers to the biological differences among females and males. On the other hand, gender refers to the differences in culture by society for men and women as per their sex. In the present situation, it is noticed that a lot of diversity reaches a stage where gender is seen as a continent rather than two categories (Goetz, 2016). Further, the media plays a very significant role in representing this scenario among the population. The gender pay gap is nothing but a difference among remuneration cost of working in the corporate world. Therefore various laws have been passed in order to eradicate all the social and economic factors that lead to two unequal pay among men and women (Buss, 2018). The role of gender in some societies is more rigid as compared to others.

Gender brings up the socially constructed characteristics of man and women in such a way that the norms relationship on rules of men and women. The decision making and the financial responsibilities of men and women are expected to be segmented based on their gender. In some places, the role of women is greater than men in terms of homemaking and children’s care. However, it is also noticed that gender is an individual perception of their identity. Sex refers to the biological characteristics while the general refers to the perception of the society and the individual based on sex (Watson & Grotewiel, 2016). Gender differences in Biology are nothing but the sex differences in humans as it depends on the hormones and the chromosomes in humans. In society, gender has a different role to play in an accomplishing various milestone of characteristics in life. Male as well as the female lead on different parts due to the reason of influencing of gender role expectation as well as the gender stereotypes before the individual can able to choose their likings. Society not only makes the expectations form a particular gender, accomplish and specific goal but it also shows the motivation and individual wants to attain something different that doesn’t have relation to gender. Gender differences in society still existing and have a high impact on the thinking of an individual due to some boundation and restriction made by society.

Feminist Role and How They Affect Gender Roles and Harassment Against Men

Feminism has advantages as well as disadvantages. As it aids and provides greater access in terms of education, equal pay role, equal opportunity, equal rights, equal decision-making process etc. It provides equal opportunity to the women in legal matters as well as in personal matters. Feminist plays a very important role in providing equal opportunity to women in each area (Jegede & Olu-Ajayi, 2017). Feminist highly affect the gender roles as refers to the values attitudes and behaviour that society considered for women and men. It eradicates all the stereotypes which divide the work based on gender. However, the media plays a very important role in order to make people aware of feminism role. Media not only helps to portray the roles and responsibility of feminism but it also portrays effective efforts delivered by a feminist. Due to this movement, women's now get right to access of all the traditional things that are bonded to only men. Such as men are only persons that provide financial support to the family but now women have a capability to work and have the ability to provide financial support to the families. In terms of roles and responsibilities, women and men are equal as they both can take care of their children and can become a caretaker of both the home and the family.

Feminism movement eradicates the entire stereotype as it provides a platform to the women in order to have the same abilities and opportunities as a man. But there are various disadvantages of movement as it leads to male harassment in society. Man too feels harassed and unsafe as women in society (Priest, 2019). Due to the power of this movement, women take advantage of man. There have been various cases reported of men harassment from women as it is a matter of fact that most of the people don't believe that male also get harassed from females. Most of the legal power acquired by the female so that they become superior in terms of legal factor. Most of the men do not tell about male harassment due to the fact that most of the legal laws are in the favour of women and at the last male will be proved accused of the crime. The use of this power is in the hands of women and as most of the women use it in a correct way while some of them use it for their profits and gains. This is very important to have proper action against this as male to feel unsafe and inappropriate as a woman if harassment takes place (Krook, 2020). Therefore, feminism role highly impact on the harassment cases on man and media should play a very important role in order to deliver this image of the feminist role.

Gender Reproduction and Generation of Gender Stereotyping

Gender stereotyping occurs often in a day to day life. Advancement and acceptance of new technologies and way of living the eradication of stereotypes are established. However, gender stereotypes directly impact on the thinking of men and women in order to attend their social roles. The young generation is more open towards diversity, acceptance of cross-culture, acceptance of equal opportunities etc. The young generation highly impacts behaviour and the information that takes from society and their family. Therefore it is very important to provide good education and ethics to the children as they are the only way which can change the society thinking towards gender discrimination (Holland, Rabelo, Gustafson, Seabrook, & Cortina, 2016). Children’s are exposed to behaviour models as they born and their parents are the main source of providing information special about social behaviour.

They observe the things around themselves and grab all the knowledge and thinking they see around themselves. Children mostly grab the things they observe from their parents and other persons. Therefore a positive environment plays a very important role in order to provide education and ethics in children. Gender stereotypes affect the thinking of the children's towards human types and gender inequality. It is also observed that there are different changes took place in the past decades. Equal opportunity is provided to men and women in every sector irrespective of gender. However, there are still some people who see the differences in providing roles and responsibilities to men and women. It not only discriminates among men and women but also provide a negative environment and negative workplace for women as well as men in society. In order to eradicate this, it is very important for the families to provide proper education and morals to the children’s.

The basic learning about gender, gender differences, dissimilarities etc is known by the children’s from their houses. It is very important to portray a transparent image of gender, sex and discrimination to the children. In the present generation, it is observed that youth are more likely to open up diversity and cross-culture acceptance. They highly accept the role and equal responsibilities of women and their families as well as in the corporate world. It is also the responsibilities of the media channels to put a proper image and gaps exist between these stereotypes (Moya-Garófano, Moya, Megías & Rodríguez-Bailón, 2019). Media play a very significant role in order to present the image and the disparity between these stereotypes. Basic information between social differences must be taught to children's from their parents in order to make them aware of equal roles and responsibilities among men and women.

Parents need to teach children’s that men and women are equal. They need to tell them that male and female are important to each other and they both play a role of the dependent variable in each other’s life. Equal rights are acquired by both men and women and both can play each other role very effectively. In order to run the life cycle, a proper balance of work and opportunities will be delivered between man and women. Both are important at some point of time and there are no such things that only women get harassed as there are various areas where men also get harassed by women (Seabrook, Ward & Giaccardi, 2018). No one is superior to others all are equal and have their specific roles and responsibilities which they play very effectively.
