Introduction to Business Research Project 

This assignment aims to reflect my understanding and contribution to the project research that I have undertaken. It also contains a detailed analysis of my learnings and emotions during the entire project. This assignment will take you to journey of experiences in different sections of the project.

Business Research

My personal contribution was in identifying the problem rather than finding a topic for the research. It is because I believe that half of the work is already done if we have found a real-life problem the other half is to find a solution to that problem. I applied the same theory here in identifying the problem for business research (Mullarkey and Hevner 2019). While doing so I realized that the cost of operating a business from a single place has increased moreover it has reduced the focus of the businesses on their goals. Another reason which I observed was that the company needs innovation and for it needed more room to create. It needed to free up internal resources and increase the global knowledge base which was not possible for a company to carry out all the process at the same place at higher rates. Outsourcing the IT function was not easy. All these problems helped me to find that outsourcing business function overseas is a good option.

From there, I started looking for the advantages a company can receive by outsourcing its business in the world market. I discussed it with my team members and they suggested that like a coin has its flip side in the same way there would be disadvantages of outsourcing business functions as well. So this is how we together pitched the topic of the research project that is the advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing business functions. The next step was to find research questions. I started investigating to find out the research question on which the entire research would be based on. The question was to find out IT functions which can stand more appropriate in global and domestic forms of outsourcing (Somjai 2017). Rest all the other questions were the contribution of the team members. Then, at last, I created my team charter.

Literature Review of Business Research Project 

My personal contribution to the literature review report was introduction and aims and benefits of the implementation of outsourcing in an enterprise. I found the literature review the most difficult part. It is because researching papers and then understanding the point of other researchers and finding a gap in that research which could be addressed was looking easy but it was difficult and time cumbersome. Although going through the process of finding literature than identifying the claims of the literature was interesting but at times I was not able to open up research papers because they were underpaid category. This is why I felt that this section of the business research was the most difficult. Apart from this, another issue which I faced was that I was not able to find the gap in the literature for which the entire process of the literature review was carried out (Hart 2018). But after spending hours on the researches I was able to find it. This filled a new enthusiasm is me to carry out the project further. I was learning about and enjoying the entire process. The best part about it was that I was able to learn more about the topic and this helped me in providing an interesting introduction to the literature review part. I outlined the literature review section. After discussing with the team members we divided the sections to complete. To research the topic, I tried different types of keywords. The keyword searching helped me to select scholarly journals.

Research Methodology on Business Research Project 

My personal contribution to the research and methodology report was to find out methods on which we were going to analyze. I decided that we will collect data primarily because it was not possible for us to get the statistics of the data through scholarly papers and journals. Then I found that we even have to decide the type of data will it be qualitative or quantitative for that I gave some though n mode of data collection (Brannen 2017). Earlier I was thinking for an interview then I realized that it would not work efficiently. Through research, I decided that if I want to cover many companies than I need a questionnaire so then I and my team members started creating a questionnaire on which the data analysis was about to be done. The selection process of how and what methodology would be used was fine but finding which sampling method was again a task. I discussed it with the team and then through the discussion, I realized clustering would be best since the data is large and thus it would be required to divide it and clustering would help in it. My experience through it was wonderful as I had never done this before. I leant a data analysis which I wasn't aware of. It was entirely new to me. I helped my team to arrange the answer in the form of the cluster for reviewing purpose. It was really interesting to do. I examined the data to find the results of the questionnaire (Goertzen 2017). The entire procedure of the research and methodology helped me gain new insight and also improved my skills and knowledge. I was now able to compare different answers and their effectiveness in comparison to the others.

Issues, Challenges and Struggle Experienced

At first, I struggled for the topic identification as it needs to be something on which the research could have been carried on. When the topic of the research got approved I was satisfied. The next step was more challenging cause I was not able to access many of the research paper because they were underpaid categories. But learning and finding research paper through keyword was very interesting (Machi and McEvoy 2016). I did not find much difficulty in research methodology but there was a tie when all three of us were arguing with each other that what would be the best methodology of our research should be qualitative or quantitative. But at last, with the mutual understanding, I was able to select that too. It what was a very good learning experience to work in a team as both the members were very cooperative and we helped each other in the areas which we lacked. It is because of the team effort that we were able to provide you with the business research on time with greater efficiency.

Conclusion on Business Research Project 

I wrote many sections in the report like problem identification, introduction in the literature review along with aim and benefits of implementing outsourcing and many more. The overall experience was good and I learnt many new things throughout the project not only about the advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing but the process of documenting a report by conducting a literature review, research methodology and analysis. Things I have learnt in this, I am ready to apply in future if I got an opportunity to write a business report like this. I am thankful to my team members who contributed to the research it is because of the equal participation and support of one another we completed it.
