Proper utilization of the project management approaches helps to decrease time scale, increase efficiency and mitigation of the potential risk factors associated with the project. The project management process also helps to improve the project with the improvement and efficient success rate of each stage of the project. The Real estate finder app is planning to establish an app in order to enhance the sales of properties in Australia with the re-generation of other aspects. In this new project, an agile approach will be used in order to increase the efficiency of project management. This report will display different aspects of agile methodology in project management, associated issues, risk management and a detailed application process. However, a suggestion of a better approach is also discussed here with a range of recommendations and comparative studies. Agile methodology is used in project management for its different unique and effective aspects and features. This approach will help the customers to maintain collaboration and synchronisation among them. However, the consistency of the collaboration and understanding among the customers will also help the customers to meet the requirements of the stakeholders (Andrei et al. 2019). The main aspects of the agile methodology involve several stages such as the building of interpersonal relationships among the team members, development of planning, negotiation with the stakeholders after each sprint through several types of meetings and an establishment of the bridge of trust and transparency between the team members of the project and the stakeholders.
In this stage, the objectives and requirements of the projects are reviewed and the key role of the team members is to understand the requirements of the project and make the other team members clear with the task and needs. In this stage, the project necessities will be documented (Battoia, 2019). According to this project, the Real estate finder app is based on building a digital platform where people can post their property information and will then be listed as VR based property. The main idea is to provide a VR based view of the real estate option for the potential buyers or customers. The people who are willing to purchase can have a VR based view of the poreteris that they select on the app. This will help in managing and sporting their choices while giving them a unique real life like view in the digital platform. Once the property is listed by an owner or agent a digital tema from the company will visit the site and make VR enabled videos of the property which will then be added to the property listing. This way potential buyers will be able to view the property at their convenience. The idea solves the problem of time and commute as well.
Lastly, risk monitoring and control can help in receiving an overall framework of risk factors, implicating the various risk reduction methods and finally scrutinizing the impact of these procedures since the commencement of the new project.
Risk management procedures help in identifying, recognizing and assessing and finally eradicating the various potential risks related to the particular project management process. As the new venture may be subjected to unprecedented uncertainties while trying to achieve the aims, goals and objectives, the cause of risk may be either external or internal as well. Risks can be of two types, positive or negative depending on the final outcome. The agile methodology used in this project can similarly be dissected between the positive influences termed as Opportunities and negative influences, termed as Threats for the venture (Araz et al, 2020). For the new venture related to real estate finder app construction, risk management can be segmented into six broad categories which are helpful in mitigating future threats.
Risk management planning is the initial stage that witnesses its role before the new project of real estate finder app construction is initiated and various steps are involved to approach the various risk management activities regarding the concerned project.
Risk identification is the next crucial step that sets the pace for determining various potential risks that might be faced during the project and related documentation is done for future purposes (Arena, Arnaboldi and Palermo, 2017).
Qualitative risk analysis helps in identifying the qualitative outcomes of the potential risks and examine conditions to mitigate the ill effects or include the positive effects, likewise.
Quantitative risk analysis, on the other hand, helps in creating a framework for measuring the various probability of risks and their individual consequences regarding the project implications.
Risk response planning involves the development of new strategies to balance the risk level by enhancing the viable opportunities and reducing the threats of the projects simultaneously (Oehmen et al. 2020).
The process that involves collaboration and understanding of a team is essential when working on a project on this scale. Developing an agile mindset means to remain flexible with the roles and objectives of individuals and aim for a high performing team. In this case the need for better delivery and adapting to the change adds incremental value within the team. To incorporate such a mindset within my team, my plan is to work closely with my team members and give them the example of an agile mindset. The team can support and build such a mindset only when it understands the benefits of the process and the ways it can be used to enhance team performance. The action plan for the future is to evaluate the team performance and make everyone capable of filling in different roles. This will ensure more productivity within the team and less dependent on any particular team member. This shall ensure the team develops an agile mindset within the team process and delivers the best applicable system for the whole team to run.
The entire project of application establishment for the Real estate finder app will be broken down into several sprints in order to improve the efficiency and quality of the entire product. In this stage, the team members will divide the entire project in accordance with the planning of the project (Fernandes et al. 2018). In this stage, the deliverables and requirements will be listed down as a part of the sprint creation process.
The release of each plan will occur after the completion of the sprint planning and the short sprints will be selected earlier in order to increase motivation level and efficiency. In this stage, the team members will develop a high-level plan for every sprint.
Sprint refers to the planning of each sprint (Beerbaum, 2021). In the sprint planning stage, a meeting will be held between the team members and the stakeholders of the project in order to have a detailed discussion regarding the sprint requirements.
After the completion of each day's task, the team members and the team members will discuss their daily achievements, performance and accomplishments (Bhavsar, Shah and Gopalan, 2020). It will help them to gather motivation for the next task and these meetings will be short and not more than 15 minutes.
Agile methodology can be used in the construction of the real estate finder app as this methodology is more customer-centric than the other techniques. Among the agile techniques, scrum is the most utilised methodology that can provide fruitful results for the real estate application construction project (Sibona, Pourreza, and Hill, 2018). According to the application construction project the entire project needs to be completed under a short span of time the selected technique should have the ability to provide fast, iterative and effective output.
The scrum team involves the product owner or the authority group of the REA groups, and the development team that includes the customers of the REA group. However, the team will be developed with a maximum number of 10 people.
Scrum master: The scrum master will ensure the participation of the development team in the daily meetings that will be conducted to have a clear view regarding the progress of the construction of the real estate finder app building and also ensure the team is performing under any roadblock or unrestrained atmosphere (Hayat et al. 2019).
The development of the scrum process in the real estate finder app construction project management will be held involving three stages such as sprint planning, daily meetings and sprint review and further development.
The sprint planning meetings will be held with the management authority of the REA group or the project owner (Paul and Behjat, 2019). In this meeting, the project owner will state the requirements of the real estate finder app project and the development team will break up the entire project into sprints.
The daily meetings will be held in which the following questions will be discussed and each development team member will provide correct and detailed answers to these questions-
Sprint review
In this stage, the management authority of the REA group will provide the review after evaluating the progress of the real estate finder app project (McLellan et al. 2021). In this stage, the project owner can make changes in the requirements of the REA group project that will be implemented by the development team as the scrum methodology will allow changes in the middle of the project.
As the scum method consists of development meetings and review meetings, the output will impress the project owner. With constant communication and collaboration within the team, the customer-centric methodology will ensure a continuous improvement in the app construction project. However, the daily meetings and the progress report with the planning of each day's task will ensure timely delivery of the real estate finder app construction project as proposed by the project owners. The adaptive quality to changing requirements will ensure a more prominent and customer-centric delivery of the real estate finder app project. As the process will not involve a supervisor or team leader, the app construction team will take responsibility and will try to constantly engage themselves in the app construction project that will also be ensured by the daily stand-ups. Moreover, the completion of each sprint in the Scrum methodology will provide motivation to the development team of the real estate finder app construction project.
The issues regarding the agile approach involve its no-fixed pricing strategy and it consumes more time as this process includes several meetings and negotiation processes with the stakeholders. However, the REA Group’s online real estate advertising company has proposed a fixed budget of around $46 million and a fixed time span of 3 years. It has also mentioned that no extra time will be provided after the completion of the proposed time. Thus, the utilization of agile methodology can create issues in the time and cost management of the project. The customer-centric approach of Agile strategy will also involve the improvement process of the project that will consume more time and effort. In this context, a water model can be used in the project management of application establishment.
The waterfall model more focuses on gathering data and the required information for the documentation stage. The waterfall model involves documentation, implementation, designing, deployment and testing phases. In this model, the team members have to complete one phase in order to proceed towards the other phases. The waterfall model is very much predictable as all the requirements are documented at the very initial stage of the waterfall model implementation although it will not allow any changes in the mid-process of the project. As the project requirements are listed and confirmed by the stakeholders of the REA Group’s online real estate advertising company , the waterfall model will work better in the establishment of the application for the existing and new customers. On the contrary, agile methodology can create issues in the time and cost management of the project. The customer-centric approach of Agile strategy will also involve the improvement process of the project that will consume more time and effort (Shastri, Hoda and Amor, 2017). In this context, a water model can be used in the project management of real estate application establishment of REA group for the Betterment of the process.
The team has essentially worked together to negotiate the terms and rules to work within the team. The team is coordinated and headed by an efficient project manager (Fatema and Sakib, 2018). It was essentially the role of the manger to divide and allocate task to each member defining his or her job roles in the process.
The working agreement between team members is essential when there is integration between each task. In our team, each member headed each system and was responsible for the area. This ensured that they took accountability of their tasks.
The sprints that are being established in the process have been designed with consultation of different team members and heads of various systems. The saints were also established in consultation with the client and the time within which the project is to be delivered.
The kanban board is one of the best systems developed to measure progress and evaluate the performance of the team (Zaina, Sharp and Barroca, 2021). In this process, the team has used the kanban board mainly for revising the progress at each stage and critically analysing the implication of each team members and heads of different areas. With the help of Agile retrospective the team members are having clear ideas regarding completing the project. Also the members are having better ideas to complete it on time. The members are clear about the issues that every individual in the team has faced before and now they are concerned about not repeating the same mistakes. The team members are re-energize through retrospective and they are enjoying their work. The complications are reduced and there is a lack of confusion. In addition, the team members are communicating with each other to resolve queries. The most effective benefit of retrospective is empowering the team members equally where the views of every individual are prioritised and it reduces chances of failure of the project.
