1)Mary Irwin has the following traits:

2) The reason behind Mary’s concern was a young boy who used to follow her every night while she used to travel to her home from her work. He used to always take the carriage in which Irwin was travelling. He never left the carriage until Irwin deboard herself from the same. This made her very uncomfortable.

3)The young man daily followed the same stalking pattern that was to follow Irwin in her carriage only and not to leave the carriage until she deboards it. But on that particular night, the man followed her even after Irwin deboards herself and was going to her home. This was something unexpected and horrifying for her.

4)Mary, after being followed by the young man was already very unrest. All she wanted was to settle down herself and take some rest. But suddenly the crying sound of the stray cat reached her ears. Irwin had a routine of feeding that cat daily. She switched off the lights and drew the curtains to look outside the window. After being satisfied that the young man was not outside her house she opened the door. After opening the door she was terrified to see that the young man was smiling and firmly holding the cat in his arms. Mary was very much panicked and started running towards her flat and meanwhile her heels caught on the step and she felt down, sprawling in pain. She stared at him with fear and instructed him to leave her alone and go back.

5) The title of the story is sharp-witted to hold the interest of the reader. The story portrays the homecoming of a thirty-eight-year-old lady (para 6) followed by the homecoming of his twenty -year- old son who was taken from her long ago on the urging of others. He came back to his own home, where his mother resides. It was like a life coming back to her and brightening of her faded and dull world.

6)” Coming Home” is the story of a mother and her son. Irwin had isolated herself after being separated from her son. Since then she became a solitary person. On the other hand, his son used to follow her and ensure her safe drop daily while she used to go back from her work. This shows his concern for his mother. The story shows how a stranger can even have the strongest bond with us, how life changes within a fraction of seconds, and happiness can again come back after sorrow.
