Purpose

This assignment is intended to assess your ability to apply the HR Planning concepts discussed in this course. You will develop a ‘mini’ strategic human resources plan for a business, government or non-profit organization of your choice. The organization you choose must operate in Canada and should be one you are able to research.

Overview

Provide an overview of your organization’s purpose, products, services, history, size, location(s), number of employees, etc. Please remember to cite your sources in APA format, using both in-text citations and a references page.

Zational Strategy

Describe your organization’s vision, mission, values, corporate and/or business strategies.

Environmental Scan

Using the categories described in Chapter 3, complete an environmental scan with at least one item in each factor. Identify issues that are likely to have a high impact on the HR plan. OR

Swot Analysis

Complete a SWOT Analysis with one to two items in each quadrant, focusing on issues that are likely to have a high impact on the HR plan. Using the template provided in Week 4, identify how the organization might address each quadrant.

Hr Priority

Based on all of the above, identify and describe the most significant HR priority or goal you believe is essential to support the organization’s strategies. It must relate to one of the topics discussed in our textbook. Provide a rationale for your selection and recommendation(s). Your aim is to argue for investment in these areas, therefore, your plan must present a clear and compelling business case for your proposed HR strategies.

Action Plan

List three concrete action steps the organization should take to implement your HR priority. Justify your plan by referencing your textbook or other credible sources for best practices.

  • Research, analyze and develop a Human Resources Mini-Plan for your organization by completing steps as outlined in the CONTENT section above.
  • Remember to review RESEARCH before identifying your top HR priority.
  • Summarize your HR Plan in a written report, approximately 4-5 pages minimum, plus appendix, cover page, and references page.
  • Depict your Human Resources Mini-Plan in a one-page chart or diagram to be included as an appendix.
  • Upload your final documents to the Assignment 2 folder on Blackboard by the END of our timeslot in the Week.

Your final submission and presentation should be professionally formatted and suitable for a business audience. APA formatting including in-text citations is imperative! You are encouraged to research examples of strategic plans and HR plans for inspiration. Your plan should be easy to read and visually appealing.
