This will be first time that the entire ICC Cricket World Cup series would be played on the Indian soil. The earlier editions played in 1987,1996 and 2011 India had shared the venue with Bangladesh and Pakistan.
The matches to be played between the teams will be decided with the help of authority.
The matches would be played for a month starting from 7th February 2022 up to 24th March 2022. The tournament would be played in a Round Robin and knockout format.
From a technical aspect Round Robin is a concept related with CPU scheduling algorithm. In this algorithm each process is assigned a fixed/specific time slot in a cyclic way. It is pre-emptive because the processes are assigned to CPU only for a fixed/particular slice of time at the most.
In context to the tournament the round-robin format (or all-play-all tournament) in which each contestant meets all other contestants in turn. A round-robin contrasts is complementary to the elimination tournament, in which the participants are eliminated after a certain specific number of losses.
In the knockout format also called single-elimination, or sudden death tournament is a kind of elimination tournament where the loser of each match-up is immediately eliminated from the tournament. Each winner will play another in the next round, until the final match-up, whose winner becomes the tournament champion.
