Personal Reflection

Telemedicine and healthcare have been of prime significance in healthcare and medicine as they have been applied in multiple ways to enhance the system. While learning about the different applications of telehealth and telemedicine I was able to understand its significance in healthcare system of Australia ranging from documentation to healthcare service provision in remote locations. I learned how telehealth helps in enabling the individuals in remote locations by enhancing the access to healthcare services. I also learned about facilitators of telehealth application that includes availability of information technology infrastructure and literacy and barriers that limit the application of telehealth services in the region. In this exercise, I was also able to learn how e-health records are of prime importance in case of partnering and information sharing for collaborative care of the patient. I also learned about the current legislation in Australia that governs the application of telemedicine in the country and was able to identify how with availability of suitable records and databases, person-centered care can be ensured through telehealth to provide a higher quality care and enhanced patient experience in the clinical setting. In summary, it was a learning experience that can be applied in my future practice.
