Digital Analytics.

Media and humans.

Big data.

Digital Analytics

Digital analysis includes the collection, measurement, and visualization, interpretation of data which illustrates user behavior on websites, mobile sites, or application software. The evolution and use of digital analytics has improved the potential of measurability and quantification of human behavior due to its ability to track common people in the digital environment (Jarvinen, 2016).

Media and Humans

Description of Media and Humans

Through different channels of media, my level of information and reach towards it considerably eased since I began to use different media channels. My exam preparations were a bit easy and my domain of study broadened.

Media is referred to as communications channels or tools used to store and deliver certain information or data. This refers to the components of the mass media industry, such as print, news, cinema, photography, advertising and broadcasting (businessdictionary, n.d.).

Feelings of Media and Humans

I have been given an assignment of writing critically about the government of that time. I started to read newspapers and watch media news channels and I felt that particular channels of all types of media were biased towards or against the government and many of my colleagues were influenced through those channels and leaving aside independent thoughts and logic. I have started to note that businesses are endorsing the media channels on a heavy scale.

Brands spend significant resources on social media to connect with their customers. US companies spent $1.5 billion on social media advertising in the year 2013 (Chen & Zhu, 2015). Media is an integral part of the society.

The different communication tools have made it easy today for the mass to access various information, which has opened up the opportunities for the industries to reach their target people. Children are encouraged at schools to learn new technologies available. The internet has emerged the most powerful communication tool with email, video conferencing technologies and social media sites which have and are creating its own communities (Harlow & Guo, 2014).

Evaluation of Media and Humans

The assignment went well. The good thing was I have come to note that media is now an integral part of society which can be used to both ruin and benefit society and both the roles were going on in the society and I think that is going well in the right direction. I did dedicate a part of my speech on the positive and negative role of media during my assignment.

Media is also considered as a fourth in a democracy, thus it represents and reflect the social, political and economical aspects of a country. It is playing the role of a watch dog of the society.

Analysis of Media and Humans

It is very important for the media persons to be ethical as the one who has control over media can make the society the way he wants it to think. Media has always been used to influence people in some way or the other, which developed in the psychological studies and theories of human brain to effectively engage people or precisely consumers of goods and services, which has negatively affected the human brain spanning from children to older ones. Thus this segment needs to be regularized (Firth et al, 2019).

Big Data

Description of Big Data

As I completed my degree in Economics, my seniors insisted on taking a course on big data. I was unaware of the concept and that how it could be useful for my profile. I started to search from various sources about big data.

Big data refers to the digital information which is so huge and complex that can’t be measured and quantified with traditional analytics and data methods. The complexity and varied applications has made it mandatory to innovate something like big data. The concept of big data could be better understood by the three Vs which Doug Laney gave in early 2000s (ss.com, n.d.) i.e. volume velocity and variety (Zikopoulos & Eaton, 2011).

  • Volume: Organization collect data from a variety of sources viz business transactions, IOT devices, social media, industries which is needed to be processed at an unprecedented speed which was hitherto not needed.
  • Velocity: As Internet of things grew at higher stage, need of faster and big data analytics started to arise which must be processes in a timely manner, else will be of no use.
  • Variety: Data comes in all types and formats i.e., text, documents, emails, videos, audios, transactions, business and industrial data, structured and unstructured data (Breur, 2016).

Feelings of Big Data

I have been taught that the era of big data together with IoT (Internet of things) and cloud computing is considered as the fourth industrial revolution. I was noticing that the prices and storage capacity continues to drop and adoption of cloud services further decreasing the costs. As the quality and size of data is improving at a faster rate, thus arose the need of big capacity storage devices and faster data processing and thus the loop of big data and IOT with cloud services is the future of the world.

Evaluation of Big Data

I have endorsed to a course of big data and I have come to know that with an incredible pace every domain of the system is connecting and endorsing services of big data along with cloud and IoT. I have learnt that a totally new system of spectrum, equipments has been and is being developed for the purposes of future big data needs.

As big data has evolved, so does the related equipments and technology like the storage platforms as data lakes and Hadoop (Chen, Mao & Liu, 2014). Further, technologies which need higher and complex processing like cloud services, RFID tags, smart meters have risen with a substantial amount of data processing needs. That can’t be managed, which can’t be measured. Leaders across all the industries and governments as well will use big data for what it is called a “management revolution” (MacAfee & Brynjolffson, 2012).

Conclusion on Digital Analytics

The evolution of big data is a successor of the evolution of media. It is the media of internet, radio, TV, newspaper, magazines and business information which led to the concept and need of big data. The vast amount of media information when increased to such an extent and included large number of domains, then the need of big data arose. But the need of the hour is the strong data regularization and development of safety techniques with which the data can be used only for the public good. The development of science and technique must be for the common good and not for a few people.
